Terms of Service

Last updated October 12, 2026

These terms cover your use of Cadence, whether you run a studio on it (“teacher”) or book lessons through a teacher's page (“student” or “parent”). By creating an account or booking a lesson, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

What Cadence is

Cadence is software for independent music teachers: a booking page, payments, video lessons, student records and lesson notes. Cadence is not a music school or an agency. Each teacher is an independent business. The lesson agreement is between the teacher and the student or family, not with Cadence.

Teacher accounts

  • You must be at least 18 and give accurate account information.
  • Keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • You are responsible for your lessons, prices, cancellation and refund policies, taxes, and any licences your work requires.
  • You are responsible for having permission to add your students' information, including a parent or guardian's permission for minors, and for getting consent before recording a lesson.

Payments from students

Lesson payments are processed by Stripe and paid out to the teacher's Stripe account. Teachers must accept Stripe's Connected Account Agreement. Cadence does not take a fee from lesson payments; Stripe's standard processing fees apply. Refunds and payment disputes for a lesson are handled by the teacher under their own policy.

Cadence plans

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe. You can cancel at any time in Settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again. Except where the law requires otherwise, we do not refund partial periods. If we change a plan's price, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies to you.

Acceptable use

Please don't use Cadence to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
  • harass, deceive or endanger anyone, especially minors;
  • send spam, or collect other people's data without permission;
  • probe, overload or interfere with the service or other accounts.

We may suspend accounts that do, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

Your content

You own what you put into Cadence: your page, notes, recordings and student records. You give us permission to store, process and display it only to run the service for you. AI features draft text for you to review; you are responsible for what you choose to send.

Availability

We work hard to keep Cadence reliable, but it is provided “as is”, and we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own records of anything you can't afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Cadence is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost income from a missed lesson. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid Cadence in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending your account

You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We may close accounts that break these terms. After closure we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes

If we make a material change to these terms, we will email teachers before it takes effect and update the date above. If you keep using Cadence after that, you accept the new terms.
